回盲瓣是由回腸末端突入盲腸所形成的上、下兩個 半月形的瓣。此瓣的作用為阻止小腸內(nèi)容物過快地流入大腸，以便食物在小腸內(nèi)充分消 化吸收，并可防止盲腸內(nèi)容物逆流到回腸。盲腸位于右骼窩內(nèi)，高位盲腸可在骼窩上方， 甚至到達肝右葉下方，低位盲腸可到達小骨盆B內(nèi)。大概5個世紀前，右下腹部疼痛意謂著死亡的來臨，直到16世紀人們才確認這種痛為盲腸炎。許多家長常對孩子說，吃完飯不要亂蹦亂跳，不然會得盲腸炎的。事實上這種說法也不見得正確，因為到目前為止，還沒有什么好方法預防盲腸炎產(chǎn)生。盲腸炎發(fā)病的原因是阻塞而導致發(fā)炎，有65%是由于黏膜下淋巴的濾泡增生過盛而導致阻塞發(fā)炎，小孩均屬此型。另外35%是由于糞便滯留在盲腸，此型大都發(fā)生于老人，其他還有異物阻塞和黏膜腫瘤所引起。右下腹疼痛被診斷為闌尾炎的誤診率很高，即使教學醫(yī)院的誤診率標準也在50%以上，因此病史很重要，將疼痛的時間與過程正確地告訴醫(yī)生可幫助診斷。正常闌尾炎的癥狀為胃部先痛一兩個小時后，再下轉(zhuǎn)至臍部周圍不適，接著往右下腹部痛。在治療方面，多采取切除手術(shù)，但是這種治療過程傷口感染率也非常高，即使闌尾沒破，并發(fā)癥也高達70%，因此在4小時內(nèi)確定診斷并接受手術(shù)治療，可避免許多并發(fā)癥。也有許多患者，開刀后，覺得特別不適，主要的原因是手術(shù)的部位是切開腹斜肌，傷口會比其他部位的手術(shù)不適，這點應(yīng)該特別注意。闌尾炎是很少發(fā)生在嬰兒身上，但隨著年齡的成長，其發(fā)生率逐漸增高，但到30歲以后又逐漸會降低。如果說能排除所有的鑒別診斷，在24小時內(nèi)接受正確的治療，闌尾炎并不是一種可怕的疾病。闌尾炎是一種常見的外科疾病。一般人習慣把闌尾炎叫做盲腸炎，實際上兩者不是一回事。盲腸的位置在人體腹腔里靠近肚臍右下方大腸的起點上，一頭是閉合的。而闌尾是懸掛在盲腸的末端，和盲腸相通聯(lián)，因此，兩者成了串門串戶的鄰居。闌尾樣子像條蚯蚓，其長短，各人不同。
